We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established children’s residential care provider seeking an exceptional Registered Manager to lead a successful 3-bed Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) home in Oxford. The home currently holds a Good Ofsted rating and provides a stable, nurturing environment where young people can thrive and achieve positive outcomes.

The Role

As Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the leadership, management, and development of the home, ensuring children receive outstanding care and support while maintaining full compliance with Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.

You will lead and inspire a dedicated staff team, creating a positive culture that promotes safeguarding, stability, and positive outcomes for young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hold overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the children’s home.
  • Ensure compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and Ofsted requirements.
  • Maintain and improve the home’s Ofsted rating through effective leadership and quality assurance.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies.
  • Lead, motivate, supervise, and develop the staff team through regular supervision, training, and performance management.
  • Manage recruitment, induction, retention, and succession planning.
  • Monitor staffing levels and rotas to ensure safe and effective service delivery.
  • Build positive relationships with local authorities, social workers, families, schools, and external professionals.
  • Manage budgets effectively and ensure the financial sustainability of the service.
  • Investigate incidents, complaints, and safeguarding concerns, implementing lessons learned and service improvements.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and outstanding practice throughout the home.
  • Produce reports, audits, and management information required by senior leadership and regulatory bodies.
  • Participate in the on-call management rota as required.

Essential Requirements

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or working towards completion.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a management role within a children’s residential setting.
  • Significant experience supporting children and young people with EBD and complex needs.
  • Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and Ofsted frameworks.
  • Proven track record of achieving positive outcomes for young people.
  • Experience managing budgets, compliance, and staffing.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with professionals and stakeholders.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Experience managing a Good or Outstanding Ofsted-rated home.
  • Experience supporting children with trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, behaviour management, and attachment-based practice.
